FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions and Store Policies)

This page gives information on dos Ramos Studio's Shipping Policy, Return and Refund Policy, Custom and Personalized Orders, Privacy Policy, Copy-Right Disclosures, Framing Policy, Business Networking Policy, Care Instructions, and Pricing Structure. For all other questions or concerns, email me.

Shipping Policy

"What are your shipping policies?"

  • Processing time
    • The time I need to prepare an order for shipping varies. For details, see individual terms on individual item pages. 
    • Ready for Sale Pieces are shipped from my studio every Thursday. An order deadline is 6 pm on Tuesday.
    • Commission Pieces take longer depending on the artist's schedule. Sometimes this can be a week to several months. Best thing to do is contact me and ask about my schedule. I may have an earlier opening available.
    • Books and Prints are usually shipped from my studio in 2-3 weeks depending on third party printing times and schedules. I want my products to be high quality and I make sure my business partners are up to those standards. Every print comes through my shop for inspection prior to being shipped out to our customers.
  • Shipping Standards
    • All artwork is wrapped in paper, padded well, and sent in a well-fitting sturdy cardboard box through the USPS (or similar carrier). 
    • Packages ship Priority and will include tracking and insurance. Express Service is available upon request and at an additional cost. Email me for this service.
    • Any painting larger than 30" in height or length must be shipped through a freight service and will cost extra.
  • Pickups
    • Customers may pick up pieces of art at my studio instead of having items shipped. This is ideal for very large pieces or for local Rochester residents. If you are interested in a Pickup please contact me for more details and times. 
    • Customers can also receive a discount if they pick up their art by entering the promo code "StorePickup" at checkout. Pickup arrangements will be made via email. 
  • Shipping Costs
    • Shipping costs are included in the price for United States based deliveries
    • Buyers outside the United States, please note that shipping charges may vary from the amount you pay at checkout. If additional costs are required, we will contact you and send you an invoice before items are shipped out. It is recommended to please Email me with questions or to get an estimate before your purchase.
    • Buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply. I'm not responsible for delays due to customs.
    • Any painting larger than 30" in height or length not being picked up must be shipped through a freight service and will have additional costs.

Return and Refund Policy

"Do you accept returns?"

  • Because of the nature of my work; I don't accept returns, exchanges or cancellations; but please contact me if you have any problems with your order.
  • Every order, commission, and sale is handled with as much clarity and transparency as possible.  My goal is for you to be completely happy with your purchase!  Because of this, all sales are final except in certain situations.
  • Please take the time to read descriptions carefully and to check the colors and pictures on multiple screens.  I do my best to represent the art as honestly and clearly as possible but there is no guarantee for a "perfect picture".
  • Contact me ASAP or at least within 14 days of delivery if you are unhappy with a piece and I will do my best to rectify the situation but once a custom piece is started or any piece is shipped out, there is less of a chance for any refund.

Custom and Personalized Orders

"How do I get a Commission Piece?"

  • For customized items or different sized canvases, please message Jonathan for pricing and a time frame. I am always excited to do commission pieces that suit your style and needs.
  • Retainer: At least 50% of the cost will be due upfront before work is started as a non-refundable retainer, the remainder will be due once the work is completed. 
  • Payment Plans may be available. No artwork will be shipped or available for pickup until the full amount is paid in full.
  • Customers will be given updates, pictures and/or video of the progress of their custom and personalized orders upon request.
  • Please note: Although rare, not all custom and personalized orders will be approved. Work must and will be accepted at the discretion of dosRamos Studio. Work will not be accepted if doing so will hurt the image or brand of the dosRamos studio or artist. (Example: Racist, Misogynist and Bigoted requests for a purpose to endorse such beliefs will be rejected)
  • Also note: I do not do commissions on Minis (2.75 X 2.75)

Privacy Policy

"What do you use my information for?"

  • The quickest answer is.. "Nothing outside it's intended purpose"
  • Your privacy is very important. We do not share any personal, demographic, or financial data with any third party. We are the sole owners of the information collected on this site. We only have access to/collect information that you voluntarily give us via email or other direct contact from you. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone. 
  • When you purchase our products and services, we collect billing and credit card information. This information is used to complete the purchase transaction but is encrypted through a secure payment processing servicePayment information is not retained by dosRamos Studio and we take precautions to protect your information during this process. 

Copy-Right Disclosures

"Who owns the Artwork?"

  • I retain all rights to all artwork I create. This includes the rights to the image of sold & commissioned original paintings. This means that when you purchase an original painting; you, the collector, have the right to display the artwork in your home or business but the artwork may not be resold or reproduced in any way without my written permission.
  • If the artwork ends up being reproduced in a magazine or other media, such as Social Media, I only ask for credit.
  • If you are interested in purchasing full or partial rights to your painting. I am happy to discuss that with you prior or after your initial purchase!  

Framing Policy

"Does a painting or drawing come framed?"

  • I highly recommend framing your piece of art for two reasons, 1) they look incredibly beautiful framed and 2) stability and longevity of your piece- giving them a level of protection from wear and dust.
  • Framing however is not a service included at my studio unless specifically stated on an individual item's purchase page.
  • I highly recommend to check out a local craft store or framing shop near you for larger pieces and/or your local Target, Pottery Barn, West Elm..ect for your typical canvas or paper sizes under 18X24. 
  • You could also check out your local mall- you never know what little mom and pop art place could be lurking right under your nose. And I think shopping local is always an A+ decision.
  • Don't forget about matting. Whether simple or textured, it can really make your art piece stand out and be more elegant.

Business Networking Policy

"Right to Use Work"

  • Stockists and Galleries 
    • If you would like to use my art in your gallery or shop, I am honored first and foremost; but there are legal copyright issues. Please send me an email so that we can discuss your gallery, shop and ideas. I would love to opportunity to work with the right business partner.
  • Social Media Posts and/or Press sites
    • All of the artwork I create is copyrighted but I love working with the press (one of our basic "American" rights). 
    • If you are a member of the press, blogger, writer, journalist, fellow artist..etc and want to use my art on social media or in an article, you can do so as long as you credit both myself and my studio.

Care Instructions

"How do I clean or fix my painting?"

  • As with any indoor artwork, avoid exposure to direct sunlight. Dust with a lint-free cloth or vacuum lightly. Smudges may be removed by gently wiping the canvas with a clean damp cloth.
  • For large spills, it may be best to take your painting to a local shop that offers cleanings and/or repairs.
  • For small tears or sags/indents in your canvas, there are certain tricks that I can offer so that you can fix this yourself. Please email me with pictures and I will walk you through the steps of how to fix your priceless work of art.

Pricing Structure

"What do you charge?"

  • Although prices are subject to change, my price structure is based on the size of the canvas. Below is my pricing chart for Original Ready for Sale Paintings on Canvas. The same would apply for Commission pieces.
  • Other items (books, sketches, prints) are priced based on the individual item and are listed on each item's page.
  • Price does not include international shipping and this shipping cost will be added at checkout (an order may qualify for free shipping depending on certain criteria). Please see our shipping policy for additional information.
